Jang Design Art is pleased to present 《BAD BOY》, a solo exhibition of Jeze from December 27th (Tue) to February 4th (Sat). Using the image of a child, the artist delightfully expresses the inner value conflicts of modern people in a materialistic society that considers physical satisfaction as the highest value.
Jeze's works are cute and lovely with colorful colors boldly expressed in the form of a pure child, but the words used with free drawings have a double appearance full of rebellion. Words such as DOLLAR and FAMOUS written on the work represent the values of modern people, and the donut or ice cream held by a child represents human desire.
For the work <MELTING TOWER>, while sketching ice cream and donuts pouring from the sky, he said he wanted to direct a child falling from the sky. The shape with faces piled up like ice cream looks at us and at the same time looks at the world. It is a reflection on the materialism of the present age and is a symbolic object of this exhibition.
Relief work allows the artist to focus deeply on the main content of the work he wants to convey by emphasizing the drawing or text on top of the usual sculptural work. The series of works in which a woman and a boy hold hands do not have gender, contrary to what is shown. This delivers a new message to our stereotypes in order to flexibly absorb the things of the world and focus on the ultimate values inherent in human beings with infinite possibilities beyond gender prejudice.
In this exhibition, the artist throws a question about the relationship between the value of materialism and happiness. Through social networks, many people share the lifestyles they own and experience, and identify themselves with their self and create their own images. Living in an era where we enjoy more material abundance than ever before, we aspire to possess more than we are grateful for what we have. The artist questions the modern people who are addicted to consumption about true happiness and innocent childhood dreams in a delightful way.
